Just a quick note to let you know, that this bank holiday weekend, the Broom 450 you surveyed for me back in March is now under new ownership!
As a result of your findings (presented in an very detailed report) some negotiations took place resulting in a better deal for me.
Thank you for all your help and practical advice during the survey. It is so helpful to have been able to be present at the time of the survey. I learned more from you about the vessel in that day and a half than I have done so since. I can’t imagine all Marine Surveyors would have been happy having the client clambering around the vessel, generally getting in the way, and asking daft questions!
Sadly, I have to tell you, I may now not need your excellent service again for several years. RC.
It was highly reassuring to receive such a comprehensive and detailed report. Of particular note was the fact that you gave assessments of both good and bad, rather than a catalogue of faults. Your recommendations and observations gave me an accurate and honest overall picture of the boat. JC
With upfront clarity about the level of service and no hidden costs, Maple Marine carried out an excellent, well documented survey that left me in no doubt as to the quality of the vessel I was going to purchase. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them or use their services again in the future. JS
Several surveyors were suggested when I was buying my Linssen. Against Martin’s name came the comment that he was rather zealous and could be very detailed. This was good enough for me to immediately engage him. As suggested the survey was very thorough and the report comprehensive.
Equally impressive to me was the time and assistance which Martin has freely given me. From the moment I first contacted him he regularly communicated with me; starting with sorting times for the survey and the cranage, through to getting the report to me when I was in the US, and talking me through it, then walking me through the boat explaining his comments when the boat arrived at my Marina (and Martin coincidentally was also there doing a survey), to continuing to answer my emails very promptly as I have asked him for advice on implementing his recommendations.
Not only a full comprehensive survey, but also an outstanding total service. SH.
I really am very impressed with the quality, thoroughness, depth and professionalism of the survey you carried out on the boat last week.
There probably isn’t that much to do with boats with which we can ever feel that we have achieved great value but I truly feel in the case of your survey that on this occasion you have provided just that.
I might not get much opportunity but if I do, I won’t hesitate to recommend your services to anyone in need of marine advice generally and surveys in particular. GH.
Martin Pittilo carried out a pre-purchase survey for me on my vessel as he came highly recommended. I have been boating for over 20 years and been involved in many purchases. I have never met such a thorough, fastidious and professional surveyor. He also produced a very comprehensive report that was clear and easy to follow.
I will not be using anyone else in the future. DL
Before we embarked on our extended cruising plan we asked our marina if they could recommend a surveyor for our boat. Martin Pittilo of Maple Marine promptly met two very nervous boat owners and soon put us at ease. We are very grateful to Martin who took us through his very thorough hull examination as requested. Martin explained every detail clearly and concisely advising on corrective action required. My wife and I now have a frank and realistic report on our hull condition and can only praise the time Martin spent with us and are grateful for his attention to detail and his prompt report and comprehensive advice we received. Maple Marine are independent yacht surveyors covering both inland waterways and coastal surveys worldwide.
We have a reputation for performing thorough surveys. We spend as long as is needed and don’t skimp on the time we spend looking at the boat.
Our role is to inspect the boat in an objective, fair and independent way, factually reporting on the condition of the boat.
We highlight both the good things as well as the defects, giving a rounded assessment of the boat. We do not just present a list of defects.

We report in a prompt manner, finishing and delivering the report the as quickly as practicable. We know that prompt receipt of the report is important to you so you can complete the purchase, be able to use your boat commercially, or have your boat repaired at the earliest opportunity.
Before we send you the report we will aim to call you to go through our findings in order to give you a good understanding of the issues and recommendations before you get the report to read. In this way you can ask for clarification and gain a full understanding of what is behind each of the recommendations.
Our aim is to provide you with a clear understanding of the condition of the vessel so you can make your decisions with confidence.
Our surveyor is an accredited member of the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA), a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), and a Fellow of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors (IIMS).
